Jordan Advances Green Hydrogen Initiative With New Infrastructure Study Recommendations

Source:,solarquarter

In a significant step towards advancing its green hydrogen ambitions, Jordan’s Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Dr. Saleh Al-Kharabsheh, chaired a meeting today to review key recommendations for developing the country’s green hydrogen infrastructure. The meeting, held focused on the first phase of a comprehensive study aimed at establishing a Green Hydrogen Industrial Complex, also known as the Green Hydrogen Hub.

The study, conducted by ILF in collaboration with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), outlines an action plan for developing the Green Hydrogen Hub and improving the necessary infrastructure beyond the complex’s site. These recommendations stem from extensive consultations with potential green hydrogen developers in Jordan, who provided insights into their project needs and infrastructure requirements.

Attendees of the workshop included members of the National Committee for Green Hydrogen, as well as high-level officials from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, the Ministry of Investment, the Ministry of Water and Irrigation, the Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation, and the National Electricity Company. Also present were a member of the Board of Commissioners of the Energy and Minerals Regulatory Commission and representatives from other relevant ministries and institutions.

The workshop’s discussions focused on shaping a strategic action plan to support the growth of Jordan’s green hydrogen sector, which is a critical component of the nation’s energy transition strategy. The recommendations aim to ensure that Jordan is well-positioned to capitalize on green hydrogen’s potential, enhancing its role in the global energy market and supporting sustainable development goals.
